Sunday I went to this Thai place with a couple of friends. It's in
Aside from eating, I've been working my butt off. So far this week I've worked 9hrs each day and I have at least one more 9hr day left. It's a lot of fun tho and I'm starting to really get into the swing of things, which is nice. And it's busy all day long which is also nice because the days just fly by.
Back to food for a minute: I made roasted veggies for the first time yesterday. I cut up zucchini, red onions, mushrooms, orange peppers, whole cloves of garlic in the skin, green onions and baby corn and put them in a casserole dish. Then I mixed olive oil with a ton of garlic, mixed herbs, a little brown sugar, a splash of seasoned rice vinegar and some sea salt and then poured the mixture over the veggies, covered it all with foil and put it in the oven. The result: DELICIOUS.
Anyhoo, below are the pics from
Do you see how the castle extends out into the distance, nearly beyond the horizon!!!
That's me!
That's me again!
This is the back of the castle...or actually maybe it's the side...
Look how high and far it goes!

I long to travel. I long to see these sights! Glad to see you are getting around the country and exploring it all. Your history loving friend is quite proud of you.
xoxoxo
wow! that is one big ass castle! so exciting that you get to see it all!
Delly, can you tell me what it means when British people say "the high street" ... I've always wondered and looking at that quaint road in Eton reminded me.
Laur, I knew you would be proud. I'm kinda proud too actually :)
Mich, the pictures can not even capture how freaking giant this castle is. And you can go into certain parts of it. I didn't but we can when you come, if you want.
Lisagh, good question. I do not know the official answer, but from what I've gathered, the 'high street' is the main road that runs through a particular area or borough. In large boroughs or areas there may be several. Some are actually named '____ High Street'. There are generally shops & restaurants, banks, hair and nail shops, grocery stores, etc all along the high street so it's where you go to get stuff or get stuff done if you live in that area. For example, here in Maida Vale, Harrow Road is the 'high street' so people might say 'up Harrow Road' or 'up the High Street'. In Kilburn, there is Kilburn High Street. High Streets are also really really long and generally seem to turn into another High Street in another Borough or Area.
OMG. Read your response to LK -- it's like you're a local! Tell me, have you found yourself slipping into a vague yet distinctly Britsh accent -- even just in your head?
Great pics. The castle was clearly frickin' huge. You look great too.
I have to agree with your Aunt that the US Thanksgiving has a bloodied history that they really shouldn't be proud of too.
And how could your boss not like you?
